Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a
Staff Engineer Systems Architect - Global Systems and Interface
Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The
Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC)
program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital
operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of
defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and
operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense
operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to
dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems
to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a
layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized
response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is
the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks
integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and
operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system
ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and
future missile defense system capabilities.
The selected candidate will support the development and review of
interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross
Reference Matrix (VCRM) development, architectural documentation,
engineering estimates, and author and performs formal and informal
engineering reviews. The position will also provide mentoring to
junior systems engineering team members to enhance skills in the
department. The selected candidate needs to be flexible and be
able--to support various tasks on short notice. Work will be
performed under the direction of the Global Architect Lead and will
require interfacing with team members, C2BMC management, and
government customers to ensure high-quality products are generated
on time and within the resources available.
Adhering to DOORS processes and procedures, reviewing the content
and details of technical products, and acting as a technical
interface to MDA working-level counterparts on an as-required
basis.
Will be actively involved in the efforts associated with Agile
development, including iteration planning, mentoring team members
on architectural patterns being used, and agile team
leadership.
Will work on large multi-site software development efforts,
including external interface development.
Will conduct or lead Analysis of Alternatives, Trade Studies, and
Design Evaluations.
Will work under Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), including
Operational Concept development.
Will travel supporting program reviews and customer meetings to
CONUS sites, including Huntsville, AL, and Shriever SFB.

certifications on your resume, if applicable.
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or
Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university
and--14 years of experience, or a Master's Degree and 12 years of
experience, or 9 years of experience with a PhD; Proven track
record of successfully applying system engineering principles to
develop product solutions.
Must have experience developing system engineering artifacts (e.g.,
specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System
Architecture Descriptions, Trade Studies, etc.).
Must have experience in developing large, complex software
systems.
Experience developing solutions in an integrated team environment
with other systems, software, and specialty engineers is
required.
Able to write and implement engineering plans within a project.
Ability and willingness to travel 10% of the time to support
business needs.
Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD issued Top
Secret/SCI clearance at the time of application which is required
to start; Desired skills include experience working within an Agile
development environment, domain experience with both Space and
Missile Defense, experience with Systems Analysis, Model Based
System Engineering, Architecture development, Virtualization,
Containerization, and Cloud Computing principles.
Familiarity with cyber, platform, and network architecture
technologies, dependencies, and design drivers.
Decomposition, Standards Compliance, Design, Implementation, and
Selloff.
Desired experience processing radar sensor data.
Desired experience with near real-time processing, persistence, and
distributed user community.
